Mastreams is a Malawian-born digital streaming platform dedicated to local and African cinema. We handle your personal information in strict compliance with Malawi's Electronic Transactions and Cybersecurity Act (2016) and internationally respected data privacy standards.
We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal information or viewing behavior to third-party advertisers. Your information is used strictly to power your streaming experience, verify film rentals, and compensate African filmmakers fairly.
We intentionally minimize data collection to what is essential for your service:

Account Identity: Your name, email address, phone number (used for rental confirmations and mobile money verification), and profile details.

Streaming Activity: Continue-watching timestamps, watchlists, and rental history so your progress seamlessly syncs across phone, TV, and web.

Device & Connection: IP address, device model, operating system, and streaming quality metrics to deliver optimized playback bandwidth (360p to 1080p).
Mastreams provides frictionless movie rentals using local mobile money and international cards. We maintain strict separation between your entertainment account and your financial credentials:
Zero PIN or CVV Storage: All transactions via Airtel Money, TNM Mpamba, PayChangu, and Bank Cards are executed directly on telecom prompts or PCI-DSS certified gateway screens. Mastreams servers never see, receive, or store your mobile money PIN or card security code.
Cryptographic Settlement: We record only the transaction reference and rental duration window (e.g. 48-hour access) to unlock playback for your account.
When you download titles for offline travel or data savings on the Mastreams mobile application:

Encrypted Local Storage: Downloaded media is encrypted in an app-private sandbox. It cannot be exported, copied, or viewed in third-party media players.

Automatic Expiry: Offline access privileges expire automatically in alignment with your rental period.

Device Integrity: The Mastreams app never accesses your personal photos, files, or local documents.
You maintain full ownership of your data at all times:

Data Access & Rectification: Review or update your profile information anytime in Account Settings.

Session Revocation: Instantly disconnect any linked TV code, mobile phone, or desktop browser session with a single tap.

Complete Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your account directly through the app or by emailing our privacy team. Upon request, your account, watch history, and device tokens are completely erased within 14 business days.
All communications between your device and Mastreams are secured via TLS 1.3 encryption. Passwords are protected using adaptive bcrypt key derivation (cost factor 12), ensuring plain text credentials are never stored in our database.
